First, we have the 2.0L I4 Turbo PHEV engine. This highly efficient and lower emission choice can produce 375 horsepower with 470 lb-ft of torque. With your plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, you can count on up to 470 miles of range in one fell swoop.
Efficiency and power combine to make the 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine a satisfying option. It produces 293 horsepower with 260 lb-ft of torque and features Electronic Stop-Start Technology. This shuts off the fuel source when you’ve stopped your Grand Cherokee at a stoplight, for instance.
The largest engine, the 5.7L HEMI® V8, produces more horsepower at 357. This works with 390 lb-ft of torque. You’ll find this option through the Grand Cherokee L trims.
A variety of towing capacities can be found for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. To start with, the 2.0L PHEV engine can tow up to 6,000 pounds. This is equivalent to a fully occupied elevator!
If you feel that that may not be enough, move up to the 3.6L engine. This engine enables you to tow a maximum of 6,200 pounds. Can you squeeze another person into the elevator? Maybe not, but you can tow a trailer weighing this amount.
At the pinnacle of towing, you’ll discover the 5.7L engine. With this engine under the hood, you can tow up to 7,200 pounds. We hope that you don't have to bring along a rhinoceros, but you could with this engine in place.
You’ll be supplied with some towing tools for your Grand Cherokee. Trailer Sway Damping comes standard and applies brake pressure when your trailer is swaying to steady your Jeep and the trailer.
The Grand Cherokee comes with a 7-pin and 4-pin wiring harness and a Class IV Receiver-Hitch. These also appear in the Trailer Tow package if you would prefer to outfit your Jeep with that. In the package, and as an option, the Trailer Hitch Zoom can be added to your SUV. This gives you the ability to line up your trailer to the hitch for more precision.
