The Jeep Grand Cherokee can be equipped with one of three engines, while the GMC falls behind with just two available engine configurations. Both SUVs exhibit robust power and drive; however, with more available powertrains, the Grand Cherokee can help satisfy the performance you crave.

The standard Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine will tow a maximum of 6,200 pounds when properly equipped. It elevates the towing capabilities with the available 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine. This engine will tow up to 7,200 pounds when properly configured.

Even with a similar, albeit available, 3.6L V6 engine in the Acadia, it can only tow a maximum of 4,000 pounds when properly equipped. So, if you need a greater towing capacity than that, you may have to pass on the GMC.
